A former member of all-conquering 1990s, so-called “First Generation of K-pop” girl group Fink.L, Lee Hyori went on to re-conquer the Korean music scene when she released “10 Minutes,” her debut solo effort back in 2003.

The song, and the EP it was taken from, hit the top spot in the charts, as did her next three albums, and she became the leading female presence in K-pop for the rest of the decade. After a three-year musical break, during which time she had become a mainstay on Korean television talk shows, she returned to hitmaking in 2013 with the album “Monochrome,” spawning the acclaimed single “Bad Girls.”

However, shortly after completing promotions for “Monochrome,” Lee Hyori put an end to all her musical and TV activities, taking an indefinite hiatus on the Korean island province of Jeju.
